Draymond Green seeks Defensive Player of the Year award
Golden State Warriors player Draymond Green is making a strong push to win the Defensive Player of the Year (DPOY) award again. After a strong performance against the Milwaukee Bucks, he spoke about his achievements and feelings regarding the award. Green said he believes he impacts the game defensively more than most players. Green pointed out that the injury to San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama has opened the competition for the award. Wembanyama is out for the rest of the season, which Green thinks makes his own chances better. He said he will use the next 13 games to build his case for the award. During the game against the Bucks, Green guarded two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, successfully holding him to no baskets in over seven minutes. Green also made a key block on Antetokounmpo. Coaches and teammates support his bid for the DPOY, with Warriors coach Steve Kerr praising his game against Giannis. Green last won the DPOY award in the 2016-17 season. The Warriors have been performing well lately, winning 15 out of their last 19 games and ranking high in both offensive and defensive ratings.
