Driver arrested after crane strikes cable in Hong Kong
A truck driver in Hong Kong has been arrested after his crane hit an overhead cable. This accident caused a major disruption to light rail services for about four hours. The incident occurred around 7 am on Saturday in Tin Shui Wai. The MTR Corporation, which operates the city's rail system, reported that some services were stopped due to the damage. Repairs were completed at 11:13 am, and service began to resume slowly afterwards. The 41-year-old driver, known by the surname Poon, reported the incident at 7:04 am. He was driving along Tin Wah Road when the crane struck the cable between the Tin Yuet and Tin Wing stops. Police said that after a preliminary investigation, he was arrested for dangerous driving. He passed an alcohol test, and fortunately, there were no injuries reported. The MTR had to halt services at the Tin Yuet stop because of the power supply issues caused by the accident.
