Driver cited for 112 mph and unsecured child in Oregon
A woman from Spokane, Washington, was cited for speeding on an Oregon freeway. She was driving at 112 miles per hour on Interstate 84 in Baker City late on March 17. Ariel Julia Payne, 28, was stopped by police around 10:58 p.m. She had a child passenger in the car who was not properly secured in their seat. The Oregon State Police reported the incident, noting that this is not the first case of its kind this year. Earlier, another driver in Texas was cited for a similar offense, driving over 100 mph without securing a child. Payne received a citation with a fine of $1,150 for speeding and additional fines for the child safety violation and an unsafe lane change. The fines for those violations are $115 each.
