Driver flees after hitting police officer in Mumbai
Dindoshi Police in Mumbai are looking for a driver who hit a police officer with their car. The incident occurred on March 19 in Goregaon East during a police checkpoint, known as a nakabandi. The injured officer, Sub-Inspector Sankhe, was hit while trying to stop the car. He is currently in stable condition and receiving medical care. The incident happened between 1:30 am and 2:00 am near Lucky Restaurant on a bridge in the area. Police had set up the checkpoint to check vehicles. When they saw the car driving the wrong way, they signaled for the driver to stop. Instead of stopping, the driver tried to escape and collided with Sub-Inspector Sankhe. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage to find more information about the car and its registration number. A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against the driver under appropriate legal provisions.
