Driver in fatal crash that killed NHL player Johnny Gaudreau faces new charges

Sean M. Higgins, the New Jersey man charged in the August 2024 crash that killed NHL player Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew, now faces additional charges, including aggravated manslaughter. A grand jury brought these charges on December 10. Higgins, 44, was previously charged with two counts of vehicular homicide after the brothers were struck while biking in Oldmans Township. Police reported that Higgins showed signs of intoxication and admitted to drinking before the accident. Higgins remains in custody and is scheduled for a post-indictment arraignment on January 7, 2025. The crash is still under investigation.
