Driver killed in Bronx hit-and-run on highway
A 39-year-old man died in a hit-and-run accident on a Bronx highway early Saturday morning. The crash occurred around 3:45 a.m. on the Major Deegan Expressway near West Fordham Road. The victim was driving a black Ford Crown Victoria with New Jersey plates when a black Mercedes-Benz rear-ended his car. Both vehicles lost control and crashed on the expressway. The driver of the Mercedes-Benz fled the scene on foot after the accident. Emergency medical services took the victim to St. Barnabas Hospital, but he did not survive. His identity has not been released as police notify his family. Police closed the southbound lanes of the Major Deegan Expressway for several hours while they investigated the crash. No arrests have been made yet in connection with the incident.
