Drunk driver injures tourist during high-speed chase

A woman from Goa was seriously injured when she was struck by a car driven by a drunk driver in Kochi. The woman, named Jaysel Gomes, suffered head and leg injuries and has been taken to a private hospital for surgery. The accident took place on SA Road. Police say the driver, Yasir, a resident of Chalakudy, was involved in a high-speed chase. CCTV footage shows Yasir's car hitting Jaysel, who was walking with her husband. The chase started at Pallimukku Junction after Yasir had an argument with a bike rider. He drove at high speeds for about 1.5 kilometers before losing control and crashing into a metro station's bridge railing near Kadavanthra. Jaysel was caught between the car and the railing. The couple was in Kochi for a vacation and was supposed to return home on Sunday. Police have filed a case against Yasir for the incident.
