DSP Mutual Fund calls for simpler investment offerings
Kalpen Parekh, the Managing Director and CEO of DSP Mutual Fund, has called for a simplification of mutual fund products. He spoke at the Association of Registered Investment Advisors' Aspire event in Mumbai on March 21. Parekh emphasized the importance of making mutual fund offerings easier to understand for the growing number of investors. He believes that instead of creating new products, the industry should focus on reducing complexity. He said the mutual fund industry has done enough innovation and now needs to "simplify, de-jargonise and minimalise" its offerings. This approach may help attract more investors and make existing options more accessible. Parekh pointed out that basic mutual fund options have provided strong returns for decades. However, he noted that too many choices can overwhelm investors. He suggested that the industry should concentrate on a few key products, as there are already many options available, including bonds and gold investments through mutual funds.
