Dubai's Ramadan campaign provides free eye care services

A campaign in Dubai during Ramadan is providing free eye screenings, glasses, and surgeries to community members in need. The initiative is organized by Noor Dubai Foundation, a non-profit group focused on eye care. They are partnering with the AKCAF Association, which consists of alumni from Kerala in India. So far, around 700 people have benefited from free eye screenings. Additionally, 200 pairs of reading glasses have been handed out to those with vision issues. The program also offers medication and surgeries for individuals requiring further treatment. Dr. Manal Taryam, from Noor Dubai Foundation, expressed their dedication to improving community health. She stated that they aim to ensure everyone has access to eye care services and the right to sight. The initiative is part of a new agreement between Noor Dubai Foundation and AKCAF to address ongoing eye care needs. AKCAF Association President, Paul T Joseph, highlighted the importance of this collaboration. He mentioned that their efforts will not only help those in the UAE but extend beyond it as well. The partnership reflects a strong commitment to community welfare and the fight against preventable blindness. As part of the event, more than 6,700 free iftar meals were distributed, reinforcing the spirit of Ramadan. The event was supported by 227 volunteers and local businesses, emphasizing teamwork and community support. This initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, emphasizing good health, gender equality, economic growth, and global partnerships. Noor Dubai Foundation continues its mission to provide accessible eye care to everyone.
