Dubai's RTA upgrades nol payment system by 40%
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has completed 40% of its upgrade to the nol digital payment system. This upgrade shifts from card-based ticketing to account-based technology, aiming for completion by the end of Q3 2026. The project, costing Dh550 million, is divided into three phases. The first phase will create digital accounts linked to existing nol cards, while the second will introduce new nol cards compatible with banking technologies. The final phase will allow alternative payment methods for public transport. The upgraded system will enable users to manage accounts, link multiple nol cards, and use various payment methods, including QR codes and digital wallets. It will also expand nol card usage for purchases beyond public transport.
