Dublin man arrested for bar burglary, curfew imposed
A 32-year-old man has been arrested for burglary at a bar in Dublin. Aaron Maguire was taken into custody about 12 hours after the incident occurred early on Friday morning. Maguire was charged with breaking into The Hyde Bar on Lemon Street. During a court appearance, he did not respond to the charges against him. Garda Ciaran Devaney argued against granting bail, highlighting the seriousness of the crime. He mentioned that damages to the bar were significant, totaling €1,500 for a broken window and €300 for a damaged till. Additionally, about €1,000 worth of alcohol was reported stolen. The police presented evidence from CCTV footage that clearly showed the incident. They stated that Maguire was not wearing a mask and was found wearing the same clothes when he was arrested. Maguire's defense lawyer argued that he should be presumed innocent. She added that he recently found stable housing after being homeless. The lawyer requested bail, indicating that her client would follow the conditions, including a curfew. Judge Peter White granted bail set at €150, enforcing a curfew from 9 pm to 6 am at Maguire's residence. He was remanded in custody until a cash lodgement is made for his next court appearance. Legal aid has been approved for Maguire, who has not yet made a plea, while police await guidance from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
