The accident occurred around 12:19 a.m. on Highway 165, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The crash involved 20-year-old Melissa Rosales, who was driving a 2014 BMW SUV at a high speed. At the same time, a 41-year-old man was driving a 2016 Honda Accord in the opposite lane. Rosales failed to navigate a curve properly and crossed into the northbound lane, colliding with the Honda. Both the man and his juvenile passenger were pronounced dead at the scene. Rosales sustained major injuries and was airlifted to a hospital in Modesto. Following the incident, she was arrested for felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter, as she was found to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.
