Dulaney wins season opener 12-4 against Eastern Tech

Dulaney High School's softball team started its season with a strong 12-4 victory over Eastern Tech. The game took place on Friday, marking an exciting opener for both teams. Dulaney catcher Carley Des had an impressive performance, hitting five times. Coach Dave Barwick expressed his enthusiasm, calling this year's team his best in 18 years of coaching. The Lions were determined to break their losing streak against Eastern Tech, having lost their last four games against them. Dulaney took an early lead, scoring a run in the first inning. The team then added five more runs in the third inning, with key contributions from pitcher Madison Schupple and player Avery Remuto. They capitalized on Eastern Tech's errors to extend their lead to 9-0. Despite the setback, Eastern Tech fought back with some hits, but Dulaney's defense and pitching stood strong. Schupple recorded five strikeouts over the course of the game. Although Eastern Tech’s pitcher Shawna Dyer also had a notable performance with 14 strikeouts, it was not enough to secure a win. Dulaney's solid start gave them confidence for the rest of the season. Des expressed her excitement about the team's potential, while Eastern Tech’s coach noted that the game was a learning opportunity for her team, who are still adjusting and improving.
