Duterte can be declared Davao City mayor if elected

Former President Rodrigo Duterte can still be proclaimed mayor of Davao City if he wins the upcoming elections, even while imprisoned in The Hague. The Commission on Elections confirmed his name will remain on the ballot. The Department of the Interior will decide if Duterte's imprisonment creates a vacancy in the mayor's office. A permanent vacancy would lead to the vice mayor taking over, while a temporary vacancy allows the vice mayor to assume duties for up to 30 working days.
