Duterte challenges ICC to investigate his drug war actions in Philippines

Former President Rodrigo Duterte appeared before a House committee, asserting he would take full responsibility for killings linked to his drug war. He challenged the International Criminal Court (ICC) to investigate him, contrasting his previous stance that the ICC had no jurisdiction. Duterte's comments come as the ICC is investigating alleged crimes against humanity during his presidency. He admitted to personally killing criminals while mayor of Davao City and acknowledged his role in the drug campaign, stating, "Someone has to take the blame, and that person is me." Lawmakers indicated they might recommend charges against Duterte for crimes against international humanitarian law and murder. Duterte maintained that any accusations must be formally filed in court, where he would repeat his statements.
