Duterte challenges ICC to start investigation into drug war killings immediately
Former President Rodrigo Duterte challenged the International Criminal Court (ICC) to begin its investigation into his anti-drug campaign as soon as possible. He made this statement during a House inquiry into drug war killings. Duterte expressed frustration over the prolonged investigation, stating he might not be alive to face it if it continues to be delayed. He acknowledged the possibility of imprisonment if found guilty. The ICC is already investigating Duterte and other officials for alleged crimes against humanity related to thousands of deaths during his presidency's drug operations. Police records indicate around 6,000 deaths, while human rights groups claim the number could be as high as 30,000.
