Dybala out for season due to thigh injury
AS Roma's forward Paolo Dybala will miss the rest of the season due to a thigh injury. The club announced on Thursday that he will need surgery on his left semitendinosus tendon. Dybala suffered the injury during a recent match against Cagliari. Roma stated that both the player and the club agreed this was the best option for recovery. They did not specify how long Dybala would be out, but with only nine games remaining in the Serie A season, it is likely he will not play again until next season. His absence is a significant setback for Roma. Since coach Claudio Ranieri returned in November, the team has improved tremendously, climbing from potential relegation threats to one of the top teams in Italy. Dybala has been a crucial player, scoring eight goals and providing four assists this season. Currently, Roma is just four points behind fourth-place Bologna in the league standings. They have won their last six matches and have only dropped six points in their past 13 games, showing their strong performance since the season resumed after Christmas.
