E-bike rider arrested for drug possession in Leicester Square
Police stopped a man on an e-bike in Leicester Square, London, on February 16 after he was seen acting suspiciously. The man, Ali Al-Hindawi, 29, was tracked by CCTV cameras before police intercepted him on Charing Cross Road. During the stop, officers found a bag hidden under his jacket. This bag contained cannabis, methyl amphetamine, and other illegal substances. Al-Hindawi also admitted to carrying a locking knife in his pocket, leading to his arrest. After the initial stop, police searched his home in Hammersmith. They discovered a larger stash of drugs and equipment used for drug distribution. Al-Hindawi later appeared in Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court, where he pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and possession of a bladed article. He was sentenced to two years and two months in prison.
