E-scooter crash in Wythenshawe prompts emergency response
Two young men were involved in a serious accident on an electric scooter at a busy intersection in Wythenshawe on March 19. The crash happened on Southmoor Road, at the junction with Altrincham Road, in the afternoon. Witnesses reported seeing the two youths riding the scooter just before the collision with another vehicle. A car at the scene had a smashed windscreen and was being examined by officers from the Serious Collision Unit. The electric scooter was left on the ground in the middle of the road, near a learner driver vehicle. Police quickly set up a large cordon around the area. An air ambulance was dispatched and landed nearby. Photos from the scene showed multiple ambulances and police cars, as well as traffic being diverted and tram services being suspended due to the incident. The area was blocked off near a crossing by the Lidl and Tesco supermarkets, with police tape marking the boundaries. Greater Manchester Police have not yet released further information about the accident or the conditions of those involved.
