Eagles sign Azeez Ojulari to bolster Georgia-heavy defense
The Philadelphia Eagles have welcomed Azeez Ojulari to their defense. Ojulari signed a one-year deal worth $4 million on Monday. He is the latest addition to a team that has many players from the University of Georgia. Ojulari previously played for the New York Giants. He was a standout in college, part of the 2020 Georgia team with fellow Eagles players Jalen Carter, Nakobe Dean, Jordan Davis, and Nolan Smith. Ojulari expressed enthusiasm about reuniting with his former teammates in Philadelphia. “It’s amazing to have those guys again," he said in a Zoom call. With Ojulari's signing, the Eagles now have seven players from Georgia’s 2020 to 2022 defense on their roster. The Eagles' defense was ranked No. 1 in the NFL last season. The other Georgia players include Kelee Ringo and Lewis Cine, who is on the practice squad. Ojulari is looking to establish himself after facing challenges with injuries in the past. Last season, he had 22 pressures and 6 sacks. He is eager to compete for a spot in the Eagles pass-rush rotation. “I’m just trying to focus on one day at a time,” he stated. He also spoke highly of the Eagles' performance last year and is excited about the opportunity to contribute. Ojulari believes he can fit well with the team and is determined to stay healthy throughout the season.
