Earliest inscription of Jesus as God discovered in Israeli prison mosaic
A 1,800-year-old mosaic inscribed with "Jesus Christ as God" has been found beneath an Israeli prison. This significant discovery, displayed at the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C., is considered one of the most important finds since the Dead Sea Scrolls. The mosaic, discovered by a prisoner in Megiddo, Israel, features Greek inscriptions and early depictions of fish. It is believed to be the first physical proclamation of Jesus as God and highlights early Christian beliefs and practices. Archaeologists from the Israel Antiquities Authority took four years to recover the 581-square-foot mosaic. It also includes the name of a Roman officer and mentions five women, reflecting their roles in the early church.
