Early voting starts in Sauk Valley for April election

Sauk Valley voters will head to the polls on April 1 to decide on various local offices and initiatives. Early voting is already in progress. The upcoming elections affect communities, schools, and local services across Whiteside, Lee, Ogle, and Carroll counties. Key races include positions for alderpersons and mayors in several cities, such as Amboy, Byron, and Sterling. Each municipality has multiple candidates vying for their respective elected roles, including incumbents looking to retain their positions. Voters will also elect township officials and school board members. In many districts, incumbents are running alongside new challengers. Notably, referendums will be on the ballot, asking for a public safety sales tax and budget measures for local fire protection.
