East Central Railway fines Rs 34 lakh for violations

The East Central Railway (ECR) held a major ticket-checking drive in the Samastipur division. The operation took place on Tuesday from 6 am to 10 pm and lasted for 16 hours. It targeted various locations and led to 4,669 cases of ticketless travel and other violations. The drive earned a total of Rs 34.24 lakh in fines. Vinay Srivastava, the divisional railway manager, said the goal was to reduce fare evasion and ensure passenger safety. Inspections were conducted at important stations like Samastipur, Darbhanga, and Raxaul. Railway protection force members and other railway officials participated in the inspections. They checked for valid tickets and proper reservations. Srivastava called the operation a success in terms of both revenue and deterring fare evaders. He emphasized the commitment to maintaining discipline and ensuring passenger safety. This ticket-checking drive is part of ongoing efforts, and similar operations will continue to support legitimate passengers and enhance railway revenue.
