easyJet reports £452 million profit and service expansion

easyJet, the UK-based low-cost airline, is showing strong financial performance and growth as it celebrates its 30th anniversary. The airline currently operates over 1,000 routes to 160 airports across 35 countries with a fleet of over 340 Airbus jets. In the fiscal year 2024, easyJet reported a profit after tax of £452 million, up from £324 million the previous year. The airline's Chief Financial Officer, Kenton Jarvis, expresses optimism for 2025, stating that travel demand remains strong and the company plans to expand its services, especially for popular leisure destinations like North Africa and the Canary Islands. According to OAG Aviation, easyJet increased its total capacity by 6% and expanded its route network by 10% in 2024. The airline processed around 100 million seats annually, maintaining a strong focus on profitability and cost-effectiveness. The average route length for easyJet's flights is 1,223 miles. easyJet is dedicated to improving its service while keeping fares low. Only 7% higher prices were noted for domestic flights compared to international ones. The company plans to introduce six new routes from four UK airports this summer and expand its fleet further. In the first quarter of 2025, easyJet reported an increase of 52% in performance year-over-year. They achieved an 88% load factor and decreased fuel costs significantly. Major markets for easyJet include the UK, France, Italy, Spain, and Switzerland, with the UK representing the largest share. easyJet’s fleet includes the Airbus A320 family, with an emphasis on newer, more fuel-efficient models that aid in carbon reduction efforts. The airline has more A321neo aircraft on order, which are expected to enhance capacity and profitability further. Overall, easyJet remains well-positioned in the competitive low-cost travel market, aiming to provide affordable flying while achieving growth and profitability.
