Eat Street Markets sold to Goodwill Projects in Brisbane
Eat Street Northshore, a popular Brisbane destination known for its street food and live music, has been sold to Goodwill Projects. This company runs 12 major markets in south-east Queensland, including the West End Markets. The current format will remain the same, operating Friday to Sunday evenings with food, drinks, and entertainment. Mark Power, director of Tourism Australia, mentioned that exciting new features are planned. These include additional seating areas and enhanced entertainment options. He stated that significant investments would be made to refresh the site while keeping the original concept intact. Eat Street was launched in 2013 by Peter Hackworth, a notable figure in Brisbane's hospitality scene. Hackworth, who opened her first café in 1958, has played a key role in the city’s dining landscape. The market moved to its current location in Northshore in 2017 after starting at Portside. John Stainton, a co-founder of Eat Street, expressed optimism about the future under Goodwill Projects. He noted that the market has great potential and highlighted its role in revitalizing Brisbane's food scene. The future of the Northshore area remains uncertain, as it is slated for redevelopment. Proposed projects include a potential Olympic Athletes Village and a new stadium. Premier David Crisafulli is set to reveal the government’s Games Delivery Plan on March 25.
