Ecopetrol plans to acquire Carlyle's Colombian oil asset
Ecopetrol is considering purchasing Carlyle Group's Colombian oil drilling company, SierraCol Energy. Carlyle seeks $1.5 billion for SierraCol, which it bought in 2020 for about $825 million. Ecopetrol is evaluating the opportunity to increase exploration and reserves. Ecopetrol's natural gas reserves decreased while its oil reserves increased last year. SierraCol Energy produces about 45,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day. Ecopetrol aims to produce 740,000 to 750,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day this year.
