Ed Atkins showcases Post-it note art at Tate Britain
English artist Ed Atkins began a unique art project in 2020. He started drawing on Post-it notes and leaving them in his daughter’s lunchbox. These small artworks served as simple greetings and a daily goal during the pandemic. Atkins's drawings vary. Some are cute, like a smiley ghost. Others are darker, featuring axes and claws that might frighten both children and adults. What started as a personal ritual has now become an essential part of his artistic work. For his upcoming exhibition at Tate Britain, Atkins wants to highlight these Post-its. He sees them as a way to teach viewers about looking at art differently. He hopes they can help people accept and understand their feelings in relation to the digital world around them.
