Eddie Diaz leaves Los Angeles for Texas to reconnect
Ryan Guzman, who plays Eddie Diaz on the show 9-1-1, recently shared why his character is leaving Los Angeles for Texas. This plot twist was revealed in Season 8, Episode 10, featuring an emotional moment between Eddie and his best friend, Buck. In his interview, Guzman explained that Eddie's main focus is his son, Christopher. He emphasized that Eddie wants to rebuild their relationship and take on the role of a father. Guzman said, “Eddie has got one thing on his mind," which is to be there for Christopher and not rely on others to fill that role. Guzman also mentioned that there has been progress between Eddie and Christopher. He noted that Eddie has begun to get Christopher to smile and talk to him, indicating a positive change in their relationship. The actor expressed that Eddie's return to Texas is about reconnecting with his son rather than living in the past. Eddie's background includes a deployment in Afghanistan, and he became a father when Christopher was born. Christopher has faced challenges, including a diagnosis of cerebral palsy, and lived with his grandparents for a time. However, he moved to Los Angeles with Eddie when his father started working as a first responder. The series' co-creator, Tim Minear, hinted at the possibility of Eddie returning to Los Angeles in the future. He mentioned that the storyline would follow Eddie in Texas as he navigates his relationship with Christopher and others.
