Eight arrested in Jharkhand exam paper leak case
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested eight individuals in connection with a paper leak case linked to the Jharkhand General Graduate Level Combined Competitive Examination (JGGLCCE) for 2023. Among those arrested are five constables from the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB), a home guard, and a member of the Assam Rifles. CID officials did not find any concrete evidence of an actual leak, but there is growing pressure from opposition parties and student groups calling for the exam to be canceled. The arrested individuals include IRB constables Kundan Kumar, Robin Kumar, Gaurav Kumar, and two others named Akhilesh Kumar. They were arrested at their postings across the state. The home guard, Niwas Kumar Rai, was caught in Ramgarh, and the Assam Rifles jawan, also named Niwas Rai, was arrested in Ludhiana, Punjab. His nephew, Kaviraj, was taken into custody during raids in Aurangabad, Bihar. All eight suspects have been remanded to jail. The CID is currently investigating further to locate the main suspect, who is believed to be orchestrating the paper leak. According to the CID, the group was reportedly soliciting money from aspirants by promising to provide examination questions in advance. Despite the allegations, officials stated they have not yet found any evidence of the original exam questions being leaked.
