Elderly couple receives support after being abandoned by sons

An elderly couple went to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) office in Sirmaur, Madhya Pradesh, looking for help. They arrived in torn clothes and felt abandoned by their sons. Srinivas Dwivedi and his wife had been struggling for two years. Their sons, Vinod and Vijay, refused to support them despite past promises. The couple had already tried to get help from their sons but got no response. After no improvement in their situation, the couple returned to the SDM office, hoping for justice. In 2023, the SDM had issued a previous order for the sons to provide financial aid, but it was ignored. Seeing their distress, SDM RK Sinha acted quickly. He summoned the sons to court and warned them they could go to jail if they did not take care of their parents. Faced with legal consequences, Vinod and Vijay agreed to help. Each son handed over a cheque for Rs 28,000 and promised to settle their debts by March 31. The emotional moment was touching. Srinivas shed tears of gratitude for the support. In a kind gesture, the SDM also gave the couple new clothes. Srinivas received a dhoti-kurta, and his wife was given a fresh saree.
