Election Commission resolves polling booth issues nationally

The Election Commission of India (ECI) is working to resolve polling booth issues across the country. On March 22, 2025, the ECI announced that over 4,000 electoral registration officers are meeting with political parties in their areas. This is part of a plan to address complaints and improve the electoral process. Several parties, including the Trinamool Congress, have raised concerns about voter card irregularities, such as duplicate numbers. In response, the ECI is considering linking voter cards with Aadhaar, which is a government identification system. This step aims to clean up the voter rolls by involving birth and death registration authorities. In addition to the electoral registration officers, all 788 district election officers and 36 state chief electoral officers have been directed to hold similar meetings. They are expected to resolve any remaining issues by the end of March. The ECI hopes these efforts will improve the integrity of the electoral process.
