Election commissioner emphasizes fairness in Maharashtra Assembly elections

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar has directed observers for the Maharashtra Assembly Elections to ensure fairness and accessibility for all candidates. Observers must respond quickly to concerns and maintain professional conduct, with complaints of bias taken seriously. The Election Commission has deployed 142 General Observers, 41 Police Observers, and 72 Expenditure Observers across 288 constituencies. They will monitor law and order and check for potential electoral inducements to ensure a level playing field. Polling will take place on November 20, with efforts to increase voter turnout, especially in Colaba. Measures include online voter lists and accessible polling stations, aiming to encourage participation in the electoral process.
