Elkhart man hospitalized following tree crash
An Elkhart man, Philip Hahn, 53, was taken to the hospital after a crash on Friday. The incident occurred at 2:59 p.m. on C.R. 4 when Hahn's truck hit a tree after leaving the road. He suffered a possible head injury and was cited for not having a license or insurance and for driving left of center. A hit-and-run was reported later that evening. A 31-year-old woman told deputies that someone crashed into her parked car on C.R. 6 and left the scene. Multiple arrests were made over the weekend. A 25-year-old man was arrested on Sunday morning for driving under the influence. Another man, 20, was arrested early Monday for similar charges, including illegal alcohol consumption. Other incidents included a woman, 41, arrested for drunk driving and a 54-year-old man charged with intoxication after driving onto train tracks. Additionally, a 23-year-old man faced multiple charges, including intoxication and resisting arrest, after being found slumped over in his car. Various other arrests related to drug possession and property crimes also occurred. On Monday, police responded to reports of a man being struck by a vehicle and found drugs in a jail cell during a search. Other reports included thefts and vandalism in the community, with several people reporting broken windows and stolen items. The Elkhart County Sheriff's Department also received reports of sexual crimes in the area, as well as suspicious incidents involving possible fraud.
