Ellen Pompeo recently discussed the famous "Pick me, choose me, love me" scene from Grey's Anatomy. This moment from Season 2 has become iconic, but Pompeo expressed her displeasure with it during an interview. In the episode titled "Bring the Pain," with Patrick Dempsey's character, Meredith Grey begs him to choose her over his wife, Addison. She remembered feeling horrified by the line. In her interview on Call Her Daddy, she stated, "Girl! Bye," when asked what advice she would give her character today. Pompeo explained that she did not want to deliver such a line. Although Shonda Rhimes, the show's creator, believed it would resonate with the audience, Pompeo was hesitant. She reflected, "I was like, ‘Why would I do this? Why would I beg?’" Despite her reluctance, the line became one of the show's most memorable quotes. In a later episode, Meredith showed growth by stating she would not beg for love. In Season 19, she told her partner, Nick Marsh, that she would choose herself and her children. Pompeo's comments highlight how her character has evolved over the years. Though her time as a regular ended in Season 19, Pompeo continues to appear in later seasons and still serves as an executive producer.
