Elon Musk warned against unpopular impeachment calls
Elon Musk has been warned about his calls for impeaching judges by a top U.S. pollster. Mark Mitchell, who works for Rasmussen, advised Musk that this approach may not be popular with voters. He suggested that it might be better for the Trump administration to focus on reforming the court system instead of pushing for impeachments. Musk has previously stated that it was "necessary" to impeach judges after some ruled against the Trump administration. He has referred to these judges as "activist politicians cosplaying as judges." In a recent social media exchange, Mitchell cautioned Musk that pursuing impeachment could alienate voters and recommended that the Department of Government Efficiency, which Musk leads, shift its focus. The conversation began after Musk shared a post from Texas Representative Brandon Gill, who announced plans for impeachment against Judge James E. Boasberg. Musk supported this with a comment on social media, describing it as necessary. Polls from NBC News reveal that many voters feel the executive branch has too much power. In contrast, opinions about the judicial branch were mixed; 28 percent of voters thought it had too much power. Rasmussen, Mitchell's firm, traditionally has a conservative bias. Attorney General Pam Bondi criticized judges for ruling against Trump's orders, stating it undermines his authority. Some conservative commentators also expressed concern about what they see as political rulings by federal judges. Currently, the Trump administration has not outlined any specific plans to reform the court system. Tensions are rising among Trump's allies regarding judges who they believe obstruct their policies.
