Emergency stop system saves hundreds after TGV driver jumps from moving train in France

On Christmas Eve, a TGV driver in France jumped from a moving train, leading to severe delays for thousands of passengers. The driver, in his 50s, was later confirmed dead, and the incident is being investigated. The train, carrying 400 passengers, was traveling at about 186 mph when emergency systems activated, bringing it to a safe stop. France's rail operator, SNCF, stated that the safety protocols functioned as intended, ensuring passenger safety. Around 3,000 passengers experienced disruptions during the busy holiday travel period. SNCF confirmed that train traffic was affected but emphasized that passenger safety was never compromised.
