Emirates A380 caused go-around at San Francisco Airport
On February 27, an Emirates Airbus A380 caused a go-around at San Francisco International Airport when it was cleared for takeoff while a Qantas Dreamliner was on approach. The Qantas flight aborted its landing due to an unstable approach. Simultaneously, a Turkish Airlines Boeing 777 also went around after receiving alerts. The Turkish flight eventually landed successfully on its third attempt, while the Qantas flight arrived 33 minutes late. The Emirates A380 completed its flight to Dubai without further issues. This incident highlights the challenges of air traffic control, particularly with staffing shortages at SFO. Despite the unusual situation, all crews and controllers acted professionally, ensuring safety throughout the event.
