Emma Webster is set to debut her solo exhibition, titled "Vapors," at Perrotin Hong Kong. The exhibition showcases 11 unique landscape paintings that were inspired by the wildfires in Los Angeles back in January. Webster's paintings use misty grays and soft brushstrokes to convey themes of disaster and its aftermath. The title "Vapors" reflects the fleeting nature of vapor itself, representing the changes and the interaction between our inner feelings and the outside world. Webster combines traditional art methods with modern technology in her creative process. She starts by making objects out of wax and plaster, then scans them to create digital scenes before projecting these designs onto her canvases. In her artwork, birds often appear as symbols while standing in awkward positions, illustrating feelings of isolation and dislocation. Notable pieces include “Alaska” and “Sparrow,” which focus on stillness, along with “Odette,” featuring a broken swan beneath a stone structure. This blend of classic art styles and 3D rendering gives her subjects a magical quality. Alongside "Vapors," Webster will also unveil a large painting named “Hunter’s Garden” at Art Basel Hong Kong. The exhibition will open on March 25 and will run until May 17, 2025.
