Energy sector boosts Canada's S&P/TSX composite index
Canada's main stock index, the S&P/TSX composite, rose by 127.03 points to reach 24,680.43, driven by strength in the energy sector. In the U.S., the Dow Jones increased by 251.34 points, while the S&P 500 gained 13.60 points. The Nasdaq fell by 58.08 points. The Canadian dollar strengthened to 69.92 cents US. Crude oil prices rose to US$67.10 per barrel, while natural gas decreased to US$4.07 per mmBTU. Gold and copper prices also saw slight increases.
