Enoch Burke's €40,000 bank account is frozen

Schoolteacher Enoch Burke has disclosed that he has over €40,000 in his bank account, which is currently frozen by the Irish Government. Burke, who teaches at Wilson’s Hospital School, owes €79,100 in fines for contempt of court. In a statement posted on social media, Burke explained the situation. He stated that his account was frozen after he refused to support transgender ideology at his school. He also mentioned that his salary has been halted. Burke attempted to access his funds recently but was unable to do so. He described the freezing of his savings as an "unprecedented and utterly illegal move." He criticized the silence of the Church for not supporting him during this ordeal. Earlier this week, a receiver was appointed to manage Burke’s salary to cover his fines. A court order was also issued to freeze his bank account to ensure the fines can be paid. Burke has been challenged to provide an explanation in court next Tuesday if he wants the order against his account lifted. This latest situation is part of ongoing legal battles since his suspension from the school in 2022. He has faced jail time for his protests against a decision requiring teachers to use the new name and pronouns for a transgender student.
