Eoin Hayes returns €1,500 of illegal donation from election fundraising campaign

Eoin Hayes has returned €1,500 of a €2,500 donation received during his general election GoFundMe campaign. The donation exceeded the legal limit of €1,000 for individual contributions. Hayes raised over €8,000 in total, but the anonymous donor must be named for compliance with funding laws. He removed the GoFundMe page on Tuesday night. Hayes plans to serve as an Independent TD when the Dáil resumes on December 18th. Other Social Democrats, like Sineád Gibney, raised funds within legal limits.
