Erin Doherty stars as Briony in Netflix's "Adolescence."
Netflix's new series, "Adolescence," has become very popular since its release. The show follows the story of Jamie, a 13-year-old boy accused of murdering a classmate. The series is filmed in real-time over four days and offers a deep look into Jamie's life. The third episode features an intense interview between Jamie and Briony, a child psychologist played by Erin Doherty. This episode takes place in a youth detention center, where Briony assesses Jamie's mental health for a pre-trial report. Erin Doherty, who portrays Briony, has been acting since 2017. She gained attention for her role as a young Princess Anne in the Netflix series "The Crown." This role earned her and her co-stars two Screen Actors Guild Awards. In 2022, Doherty starred in "Chloe," a thriller about a woman who assumes a new identity after her friend’s death. She also appears in the upcoming film "Firebrand," playing Anne Askew, a Protestant reformer executed during the reign of King Henry VIII. More recently, Doherty is featured in "A Thousand Blows," a historical drama released on Hulu. In this series, she plays the leader of an all-female crime group in 1880s London. All episodes of "Adolescence" are now available for streaming on Netflix.
