Ernest Cu to step down as Globe CEO in 2025, Carl Cruz to succeed him
Ernest Cu will step down as president and CEO of Globe Telecommunications Inc. in 2025 after 16 years. Carl Raymond Cruz, currently CEO of Airtel Nigeria, will take over the role following an election at the annual stockholders’ meeting next year. Cruz, who has 30 years of experience in management and marketing, will become deputy CEO on January 1, 2025. Cu will continue to chair several subsidiaries after his retirement, including GCash and 917Ventures. Cu joined Globe in 2008 and became CEO in 2009. Under his leadership, Globe expanded its mobile data services and 5G coverage, while also promoting financial inclusion through GCash.
