EU diplomat to discuss Gaza conflict in Israel
The European Union's top diplomat, Kaja Kallas, announced on Sunday that she plans to visit Israel. Her visit aims to address the renewed conflict in the Gaza Strip. Kallas highlighted the urgent need to stop the fighting and protect civilian lives. The remarks were made during her presence in Cairo, where she attended a meeting about Gaza with several Arab nations, including Egypt, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia. Kallas stated that the EU will utilize its available resources to intervene in the situation. During her discussions, Kallas emphasized the importance of the future governing body in Gaza. She made it clear that the EU believes Hamas should not play a role in any future government. This comes as Israeli forces intensify their actions, ending a two-month ceasefire that had been in place since January. Initially, the ceasefire was meant to pave the way for negotiations between Israel and Hamas. These talks included discussions about the release of hostages and the establishment of a lasting peace.
