The first EU-Pakistan Business Forum will be held in Islamabad on May 14-15. This event aims to improve economic cooperation between Pakistan and the European Union. The EU is the biggest market worldwide for Pakistani exports and is also the largest foreign investor globally. Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed strong support for the forum. He highlighted the advantages of Pakistan’s growing market of 240 million people, its affordable labor, and its strategic location for trade with Central and South Asia. The joint announcement indicated that the forum will feature high-level officials, including ministers and business leaders from both regions. The forum will showcase Pakistan's strengths in various sectors such as agribusiness, energy, pharmaceuticals, information technology, and textiles. EU Ambassador Dr. Riina Kionka noted that European companies are beginning to see Pakistan as a promising business destination. She believes the forum will enhance collaboration and explore new trade opportunities between the EU and Pakistan. Alongside business meetings and discussions, the event will also launch the EU-Pakistan Business Network, which will connect over 300 European firms operating in Pakistan. The forum is considered a significant step in strengthening economic ties, promoting the idea of mutual prosperity, and working together more closely.
