Europe must engage more closely with China

Norwegian foreign vice-minister Andreas Kravik has emphasized the importance of China in Europe amid growing tensions between Europe and the United States. In a recent interview, he warned that Europe should avoid relying too heavily on either China or the US. Kravik mentioned that China plays a key role in tackling global issues. He stated that it is difficult to resolve problems without China's involvement due to its size and influence. His comments reflect concerns about the current state of transatlantic relations, which have been strained by US policies under former President Trump. During his first visit to China, Kravik noted that he met with officials in Beijing and Hong Kong. His trip occurred as China is actively trying to strengthen ties with European countries. Kravik believes cooperation with China is essential, especially after Trump's administration withdrew from the Paris climate agreement. He stressed that regardless of US actions, Norway and Europe must continue to collaborate with China to find solutions to global challenges.
