EV prices in India will match petrol vehicles soon

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari announced that electric vehicles (EVs) in India will cost the same as petrol vehicles within six months. This change is significant, as EVs typically have higher production costs due to expensive lithium-ion batteries. These batteries rely on costly raw materials such as lithium, cobalt, and nickel. Gadkari mentioned that the government's goal is to promote local production, reduce pollution, and make transportation more affordable. He stated that improving infrastructure, such as better roads, can help lower logistics costs and support India's growth. During the 32nd Convergence India and 10th Smart Cities India Expo, Gadkari also shared that the 212-km Delhi-Dehradun expressway will be finished in the next three months. He affirmed that the future of India's economy is bright and emphasized the importance of smart cities and transport solutions powered by electricity. The minister highlighted the need for innovation in technology to further cut down road construction costs. The government is focusing on developing mass rapid transport systems that rely on electric power.
