Ewan McGregor seeks roof replacement for Scottish mansion

Ewan McGregor is seeking permission to replace the damaged lead roof on his £2 million mansion in Scotland. The actor, aged 53, has submitted plans for renovations at his Carse of Gowrie home. McGregor wants to remove old roof lights and install new aluminum double-glazed ones. He bought the property in 2023 for £2.35 million. It offers more than 15,000 square feet of living space and includes a gate lodge and several outbuildings. Since purchasing the mansion, McGregor has received approval for several upgrades. These include building a new garage and creating a master bedroom and bathroom suite. He has also addressed issues with yellowing and water damage to the property. In December, he was allowed to renovate a lodge located on the estate, which involves refurbishing its windows and adding new double glazing. McGregor expressed a strong connection to Scotland, despite spending most of his life away from it. The Perth and Kinross Council will soon decide on his latest renovation request. McGregor is well-known for his role in the film "Trainspotting" and as Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi in the "Star Wars" series.
