Ex-armyman arrested for raping 17-year-old in Barnala

Police have arrested an ex-armyman for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl in Barnala. The accused, identified as Pishaura Singh from Thulliwal village, was taken into custody after the girl's family reported the crime. The case was registered following a medical examination of the minor. Police confirmed that they are charging Singh under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which include rape, kidnapping, and criminal intimidation. Additionally, he faces charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. According to local reports, the girl was traveling to visit her aunt when she met Singh on the Barnala bypass. He allegedly promised her a job caring for his wife and then took her to Thulliwal village, where the crime occurred. The investigation is ongoing.
