Ex-boxer jailed for cocaine supply in Gloucestershire
A former boxing champion, Lennox Clarke, has been sentenced to over six years in prison for supplying cocaine. The 33-year-old from Stourbridge had fled to several countries, including Ireland and Thailand, after he was caught dealing drugs in Cheltenham. Clarke was found guilty at Gloucester Crown Court and received a sentence of six years and four months. The judge noted that Clarke had not changed his ways despite his previous drug conviction from 2012. His arrest followed an investigation into drug activities in Cheltenham. Police connected Clarke to Ben Goff, a local dealer, after observing their frequent meetings. When Goff was arrested for selling drugs, Clarke went into hiding. According to police, Clarke first stayed in nearby hotels, then traveled to Ireland and other countries before returning to the UK. He has been credited with time served and will serve 317 days less due to a prior curfew. Authorities hope this sentence will encourage the community to report drug-related issues. During his boxing career, Clarke held several titles, including British and Commonwealth super-middleweight champion.
